As part of this program, you're required to choose a concentration that aligns with your interests and career goals while building a strong foundation in the broader field. The aerospace financial analysis concentration provides practical financial skills tailored to the aviation industry. Through coursework in aviation business finance, students learn how airports, airlines and other aviation companies make financial decisions. Topics include revenue sources, cost structures, capital investment, pricing strategies, financial instruments and financial performance.
Students also learn to interpret financial documents and analyze risks associated with fuel prices, demand fluctuations and economic cycles. By applying data analytics to real-world aviation data, they develop the ability to identify trends, support strategic decisions, evaluate financial performance and manage financial risk in the aviation sector.
The airline management concentration develops the operational, analytical and leadership skills needed to work in the airline sector. Students study operational control, fleet planning, network and schedule development, revenue management, financial performance, safety management systems (SMS) and aviation security within a highly regulated environment.
The curriculum prepares graduates for roles in airline operations centers, commercial planning departments, safety and compliance teams, regulatory agencies such as the FAA, and aviation consulting organizations. Students explore how airlines interact with federal regulatory frameworks, global markets, airport partners and internal operational systems while learning to address emerging challenges across airline operations, finance, strategy, safety and policy.
The airport management concentration develops the operational, analytical and leadership skills needed to work in the airport sector. Students gain knowledge in airport administration and finance, airport operations supporting Part 139 certification, safety management systems (SMS), aviation security, public relations, planning and construction, and airport maintenance.
The curriculum prepares graduates for roles with airports, government agencies such as the FAA and TSA, airlines, fixed-base operators (FBOs), and aviation consulting organizations. Students examine how airports interact with federal regulatory frameworks, community stakeholders and airline partners while learning to address emerging challenges across airport operations, planning, safety, finance and policy.
