Dr. Tawfiq Salem is a Clinical Associate Professor (Associate Professor of Practice) in the School of Applied and Creative Computing at 鶹Ʒ. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky in 2019 and his M.S. in Computer Science from 鶹Ʒ Indianapolis, supported by a Fulbright Scholarship.
His research spans artificial intelligence, computer vision, multimodal AI, and computing education. His work includes visual and multimodal learning for applications such as food computing, remote sensing, and medical imaging, as well as AI-enhanced approaches to teaching and learning computing. In computing education, his research focuses on interactive learning environments, intelligent feedback, and tools that help students develop stronger programming and problem-solving skills.
Dr. Salem has taught a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science and Information Technology, including programming, machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence. He is also actively involved in developing and evaluating innovative technologies for improving computing education at scale.
