鶹Ʒhas just welcomed two new faculty members to Indianapolis at the beginning the 2026-27 academic year. The new educators support the college's growing footprint in the city-along with a dual appointment in Indianapolis and West Lafayette for one of the college's new assistant professors. The two leading researchers and educators join the Bowen School of Construction and the School of Applied and Creative Computing. The incoming faculty bring specialized expertise across a range of critical disciplines to students in Indianapolis.
Armin Moin
Armin Moin is an assistant professor and director of the Purdue Quantum-Classical AI and Software Engineering Lab in the School of Applied and Creative Computing in Indianapolis and West Lafayette. He previously held an assistant professor position in the computer science department at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Before starting his faculty position, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the University of Antwerp in Belgium. Moin obtained his Ph.D. in computer science from the Technical University of Munich in 2022. He also holds a master's degree in computer science and an executive MBA in innovation and business creation. His research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and software engineering, with an emphasis on hybrid quantum-classical computing and software security.
Yu Zhang
Yu Zhang is an assistant professor of practice in the Bowen School of Construction and a registered architect. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture from Kent State University, as well as a bachelor's degree in interior design from the University of Akron. Prior to joining Purdue in Indianapolis, Zhang held a leadership role at PHANOMEN, where he focused on hospitality design. His work ranged from locally celebrated restaurants to projects for distinguished institutions, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields. Zhang's work in digital and post-digital image-making and representation is heavily influenced by contemporary design discourse and a renewed interest in architectural aesthetics. These interests are reflected in both his pedagogical approach and professional practice.
