Hayley Grisez, a 2023 graduate of the Engineering Technology Teacher Education (ETTE) program has coached her students at Greater Lafayette Career Academy to earn first, second, fourth, and eighth place finishes at the high school-level evGrand Prix World Championship.
The event was hosted on May 6 at 麻豆精品 and involved competitors from across the globe. Grisez has been a technology, engineering and automotive teacher at Greater Lafayette Career Academy since her graduation from Purdue.
Grisez : “This team had some incredible drivers, crew chiefs, team members and innovations this year. … They truly shined in every aspect of the competition.”
The team had received plaudits earlier in the year for their safety ratings at an Indianapolis Motor Speedway race. Success in the evGrandPrix depends on both racing and engineering prowess, and ratings on safety and efficiency are a significant part of the latter.
“Hayley was a really engaged student here at Purdue,” said Greg Strimel, associate professor and assistant department head in Technology Leadership and Innovation. “She was always involved in STEM education outreach with schools, she was an active member of the TEECA STEM education student organization, and a leader in the Honors College Racing Team. This success is no surprise given her work and passion in STEM education and motorsports.”
