Program Description

The VEA Study Abroad program focuses on the study and creation of virtual environments inspired by historic architecture using real-time game-engine technologies. Students will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the architectural and cultural heritage of the places in which they are immersed while learning cutting-edge techniques for recreating these environments for virtual production and other digital applications.

Tentative Program Itinerary

  • Saturday, May 15th- Travel to Rome, Italy
  • Sunday, May 16th- Arrive in Rome, Program Orientation, Group Dinner
  • Monday, May 17th- Architectural History Tour: Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill
  • Tuesday, May 18th- Architectural History Tour: Pantheon, Trevi Fountain
  • Wednesday, May 19th- Architectural History Tour: Spanish Steps, and Castel Sant'Angelo Museums and Sistine Chapel
  • Thursday, May 20th- Architectural History Tour: Vatican City, with Visits to St. Peter's Basilica, St. Peter's Square, and the Vatican
  • Friday, May 21st- Train to Florence
  • Saturday, May 22nd- Tour of Florence: Experience Local Cuisine
  • Sunday, May 23rd- Architectural History Tour: Piazza della Signoria and Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery
  • Monday, May 24th- Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo) and Brunelleschi's Dome, Giotto's Campanile and Baptistery of San Giovanni
  • Tuesday, May 25th- Ponte Vecchio,  Basilica of Santa Croce, Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, Piazzale Michelangelo
  • Wednesday, May 26th- Flight to Prague, Czech Republic
  • Thursday, May 27th- Class Session in AM, Tour of Prague, Free Evening
  • Friday, May 28th- Class Session in AM, St. Nicholas Cathedral in PM, Visit Local University Student/Faculty Evening Music Show
