Describe your potential job duties
Supporting employees in a manufacturing environment, support employee relation investigations, manage and analyze employee data, have ownership over summer project.
In what ways did the Polytechnic and/or Purdue help make you uniquely qualified for your new job?
Having a greater understanding of how technology is being used in HR and how it could be utilized in the future is a unique skill set in my field. It's made me adaptive to new technologies, and with my understanding I'm able to better support change among employees.
How has the college or someone in the college (feel free to name them) helped you achieve your goals?
Toni Munguia and Allison Maldonado-Ruiz have supported me for years and helped me in realizing my strengths. Toni especially has pushed me to work hard and to push for my goals since my first semester here, and it's hard to truly explain the immense positive impact she's had on me, and countless other students. Allison's compassion and leadership helped me become a better leader too. Dr. BC Grant helped me make important career decisions and supported me through challenging academic periods. He taught me about the importance of working outside of your comfort zone, too.
What specific classes (titles are more helpful than course numbers) helped prepare you for your new job?
Labor and Management Relations (OLS 378) gave me a deep understanding of how HR has evolved, and where it can go. It prepared me to have tough conversations, and to work in challenging environments.
If you had a favorite class, project, experience, or professor, what/who was it, and why?
Dr. Grant teaches very engaging courses, where discussion deepens your understanding of the material. He also has us do interesting and realistic case studies and projects. His classes (OLS 378 and TLI 4558: HR analytics) taught me useful tools that will help me throughout my career.
鶹Ʒgave me the technical knowledge and adaptability I need in a changing HR field. The support from so many mentors among both faculty and staff helped me grow into a stronger leader and professional."
