Â鶹¾«Æ·High School, a tuition-free public charter school aligned with Â鶹¾«Æ·, opened its second Indianapolis location in fall 2019.

Â鶹¾«Æ·High School announced its second charter school will open in summer 2019 in Broad Ripple on Indianapolis' north side.

Â鶹¾«Æ·High School welcomed 159 students to its first-ever ninth grade class on Monday (July 31) in Indianapolis. The new school will focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and will feature hands-on project-based learning.

The Â鶹¾«Æ·High School has submitted its final application as part of XQ: The Super School Project, a national challenge to rethink high school.

As head of the planned Â鶹¾«Æ·High School in Indianapolis, Scott Bess has a lot of work to do between now and August 2017.

The Indianapolis Charter School Board on Thursday (Dec. 3) awarded a charter to the Â鶹¾«Æ·Indianapolis High School. The board's decision was the final step in the school's application process.

"With the approval of the charter, we are now able to start making bigger investments in the future of the school," said Gary Bertoline, dean of Â鶹¾«Æ·Institute. "Our next big steps are hiring a school leader and selecting a location. Both of those goals should be accomplished in the next few months."

Â鶹¾«Æ· promises a transformative education with its new charter school in Indianapolis. But can the institution find a leader to live up to that reputation?

Purdue announced last week it would begin a search for the "head of school" at Â鶹¾«Æ·Indianapolis High School, a charter school that will provide graduates with direct admission to the West Lafayette campus in an effort to increase the university's enrollment of first-generation, low-income students.

Purdue’s Polytechnic Indianapolis High School, which is scheduled to open its doors in the fall of 2017, is bringing active learning into its STEM-based education.
