Twelve #PurduePolytechnic alumni received awards celebrating their noteworthy contributions to Purdue, their industries, and the world of technology as a whole.

Yi Gao has dug into the details of airport "catchment areas," or the distances from the facility where customers will choose one airport even if another is available to them.

The Persistent Pursuit reported on #PurduePolytechnic alumna Brittany Gallarneau. “I decided I wanted to fly when I was about 17,” she says. “My dad was my first flight instructor; he taught me while I earned my private pilot’s license.”

Uniform Sierra Aerospace, a drone manufacturer co-founded with Polytechnic alumni, has created the new Panther drone model, made in United States and designed for “first responders [in] search-and-rescue cases in outdoor settings.”

Â鶹¾«Æ·'s Undergraduate Research Expo for fall 2023 highlighted substantial efforts in Purdue Polytechnic, with participation from 31 undergraduate students and 24 faculty and graduate mentors.

On November 1, Purdue honored Polytechnic professors Jin Wei-Kocsis, Nathan Mentzer, Alejandra Magana, Vetria Byrd, Joseph Hupy and Baijian “Justin” Yang with Seed for Success Acorn Awards. The award recognizes Purdue researchers who have obtained their first grant of $1 million or more in funding.

The National Science Foundation has just issued its first-ever grant to Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Aviation and Transportation Technology, funding the school’s large-scale AI and mixed-reality research project. Included are over a dozen industry partners and higher ed institutions.

Congratulations to Polytechnic alumni Duncan Mulgrew and Trevor Redpath, two founders of the startup Uniform Sierra Aerospace. Their drone company was awarded $100,000 by Purdue Innovate's Startup Foundry.

Purdue Polytechnic’s alumni board has undergone a great deal of change lately, spinning up activities alongside a host of new members.

Purdue-based aviation crew “Boiler Up, Hangar Down” scored a top ten spot in the annual Air Race Classic, out of a competition class of 43 teams. Pilots Alex Small and Morgan Mallow competed successfully against nearly 100 other pilots from all walks of life and careers.
